SHERMAN, Texas (KXII) - Sherman police have arrested one person in a stabbing that took place at a Sherman apartment complex on Mother’s Day.

It happened at the Ridge View apartments, on Washington Street in Sherman, at around 12:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

Sherman police say the victim, a female, was visiting her mother at the complex with someone, when she got into an altercation with the suspect, Fanchon Wimbish.

That’s when they say Wimbish began hitting, biting and stabbing the victim with a knife. The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

“Officers learned that the victim was a visitor, and came to the apartment complex with somebody else,” said Sgt. Brett Mullen with the Sherman Police Department. “During the visit, the suspect became upset and began assaulting the victim- which included hitting, biting and ultimately stabbing the victim with a knife. The victim received multiple stab wounds, and was taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.”

Wimbish was arrested on existing parole warrants and faces charges for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The victim has yet been identified, but Sherman police say the two knew each other but were not directly related.
